Community Bus Hire

Council offers affordable bus hire for local not-for-profit community organizations. If you are a local non-profit community organization, community group you can hire any of our available vehicles.  These can be used for activities and programs that directly benefit Hume City Council community. 

Who can hire a community bus?

To be eligible to hire a bus, an organization must:

  • be an incorporated, not-for-profit organization operating or residing in Hume
  • nominate a driver with a full Victorian drivers’ licence who is over 21 years of age

Buses are hired out based on availability.

Conditions of use

  • Community buses must only be used in the state of Victoria.
  • You are responsible for hire and fuel costs and need to return the bus to Council on time, with a full tank of fuel and cleaned.
  • Collection and drop off during office hours Monday to Friday.

Please note: Hire charges include GST and are subject to change without notice. 

Further charges may apply if a bus is returned dirty, late or without fuel, and for late cancellation or failing to pick up the bus.

Booking requirements

  1. Council may contact you to discuss your booking request.
  2. Once your booking is accepted, an invoice will be issued. Credit card payments enable bond return within 24 hours other methods may take up to 30 days.
  3. Bus hire fees must be paid for your booking before the bus is collected.
