Improvements to Aitken Boulevard and Central Park Avenue Intersection

Published on 05 September 2025

We’d like to thank drivers for their continued patience while arrangements are being made to improve the signalised intersection of Aitken Boulevard and Central Park Avenue, Craigieburn.

As part of the Craigieburn Road Upgrade, a second southbound traffic lane was recently opened on Aitken Boulevard, south of Central Park Avenue. However, north of the intersection there is currently only one southbound lane.

The current layout will allow a second southbound through lane to be introduced north of the intersection by converting the existing right-turn lane into a through lane and activating the unused right-turn lane.

To put these changes in place, the traffic signals need to be updated and approved by the Department of Transport and Planning. Hume City Council is working with the Department to arrange these modifications, which are expected to be completed by early 2026.

Please refer to the map below which outlines both the current and future arrangement. In the meantime, drivers are asked to follow the existing lane arrows and line markings to help keep traffic moving safely and smoothly.

We appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve safety and traffic efficiency for everyone.
